COVID Coloring Sheets

A public offering to help people of all ages cope with the onset of the pandemic

COVID/Quarantine Coloring Sheet Project

On March 16, 2020 (the day my children came home from school because of the pandemic) I began creating an original drawing each day that I would turn into a downloadable coloring sheet for others. At a time when the uncertainty of the pandemic was new and daunting, I needed the calm that the daily drawing brought to me. By turning it into a coloring sheet, I was offering others a small bit of that calm.

The reach of the project was four-fold:

  • Downloadable Coloring Sheets

Through 2020, the coloring sheets were offered for free to anyone who needed them. (I also provided the option to pay $1/download as a reciprocation of the gift I was offering.)

To date, 1157 coloring sheets have been downloaded.

  • TPT Original feature

The project was featured in a 2-minute video by Twin Cities Public Television in their TPT Orignals programming.

  • HOME WORK exhibition/ Chicago

The Coloring Sheet project was included in HOME WORK a group exhibition at the Carlson Tower Gallery (virtual and partially physical onsite in Chicago) that included the work of artists’ response to the pandemic.

  • In Lights on TARGET HQ Bldg

I was approached by a member of the creative team at Target to develop an original illustration. I worked with them to animate it for the building, essentially extended the gift of the coloring sheet project through the visual calm of coloring motion graphics at an enormous scale. The piece premiered on the Target bldg & the Minneapolis skyline on Earth Day 2021 and can randomly be seen on the building on any given night.
