FORCED/FORCE, 2018 - ongoing
component: 6”x6” copper sheet

An iterative series that speaks to being forced in to a mold not made for us, misusing tools (doing it wrong) in order to discover our true nature, while breaking free from oppressive narratives about our very potential. It also speaks to the way women are historically and presently forced by men: abused physically, emotionally, psychologically, and verbally through insult, shame, violence, gas-lighting, and manipulation of reality. It is visceral, embodied damage that will never bring us back to the ‘flat sheet of metal’ we were. And, still … when we are able to speak our truths out loud, as difficult as that is (and always is) we can become a force … for change.
